Surreal World
Surreal World is a digital visual effects and animation studio based in Melbourne, Australia. It was founded in 1995 as the creative studio of award-winning Melbourne artist, composer, animator, and filmmaker, John Francis. From beginnings creating short films such as the award-winning animated canine in "Tug Wilson" and the cycling elephants in "Baby Elephants Day Out", work for clients followed with music clips, and visual effects and animation for TV commercials and feature films.
Surreal World operates a visual effects and animation services facility for the film, television, advertising, and corporate industries, and an entertainment production studio, developing a slate of entertainment projects ranging from movies to graphic novels. Surreal World has created visual effects and animation for many theatrically released feature films such as "The Cup" (2011) Directed by Simon Wincer and starring Stephen Curry and Brendan Gleeson, "Kath and Kimderella" (2012) Directed by Ted Emery, "The Turning" (2013), and recent TV productions, "Gallipoli From Above" (2012), "Nowhere Boys" (2013) and "Wentworth - Series 2" (2013–14). The studio is currently creating visual effects for the feature films, "Menkoff Method" (2014) Directed by David Parker and starring Noah Taylor, and "Paper Planes" (2014) Directed by Robert Connolly and starring Sam Worthington.
